Here’s Some Useful Information
Our front desk operates 24 hours each day and a professional associate is eager to assist with your request at all times.
Check-in begins at 3 pm, and guests are required to check out by 11 am.
Though built in 1886, Bay View Inn has made a great effort to accommodate everyone who visits, including guests with disabilities. Our Inn’s main entrance is ramp accessible from the parking lot, and all our common areas are also accessible by wheelchair. Should you require special assistance, please let us know in advance so that we can ensure your visit is a hassle-free and memorable experience.
A deposit equal to the total of your first night’s stay, including taxes and fees, will be required at the time of booking.
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel, please let us know at least 7 days before your arrival for a full refund of your deposit. Cancellations made within 7 days of arrival will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.
Advance Purchase reservations are paid in full at the time of booking and are non-refundable.
Please note that certain packages and special events may have different deposit and cancellation requirements. Details for those reservations will be outlined in your confirmation letter.
Yes, we are a Victorian Inn open year-round. We offer a central location to a variety of seasonal activities.
We welcome children of all ages as our very special guests. An additional charge applies per child, per night for children aged 12 and older.
Pets are not permitted at Stafford’s Bay View Inn, with the exception of service animals for guests with special needs. We will happily assist you in finding a local boarding service.
Bay View Inn offers a complimentary Social Hour that takes place in the sunroom daily from 4 – 5 pm. Guests can enjoy a complimentary drink and light appetizers while mingling with other guests and enjoying the public spaces. It’s a way to provide a warm welcome and engage with our guests who often are adventuring out and about in the surrounding area of Northern Michigan.
Bay View Inn is pleased to offer complimentary wireless Internet access throughout the property.
Guests will enjoy fine bath supplies, ironing boards, irons, and hair dryers.
Breakfast is available in the Roselawn Dining Room each morning. We want to offer as much flexibility as possible to guests when booking a reservation at the Bay View Inn. Beginning March 17, 2025, guests can book a room with or without breakfast. If you’d like to add breakfast after booking, simply give us a call, and we’ll be happy to assist. You’re also welcome to dine with us and pay at the restaurant. For those not staying at the hotel, our dining room is open to the public seven days a week.
House guests of the Stafford's Bay View Inn can enjoy complimentary lemonade, iced tea, and coffee throughout their stay.
The Inn has a full-service bar, 8 am - 11 pm.
While visiting, house guests may enjoy the use of several bicycles to visit nearby areas. Petoskey’s historic Gaslight District is a short two-mile ride to the south. For those seeking a longer trip, an expansive bike route extends from Bay Harbor to Harbor Springs and passes directly in front of the Inn.
All guest rooms and dining areas at the Inn are fully air-conditioned for our guests’ comfort and enjoyment.
Guests of the Bay View Inn can enjoy our cozy library, filled with games, books, magazines, and a 24-hour coffee and tea service.
To preserve the charm and atmosphere of our beautiful property, there are no televisions or phones in the guest rooms. Guests can find TVs in the sunroom and the Library.
The Bay View Inn gift shop carries a host of unique gifts that represent up north vacations at their very best. From our home to yours, you will find regional items, logo merchandise, and an assortment of gift items. If you happen to be far away from the friendly confines of our country Inn, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re happy to ship any items you may have in mind.
We are proud to offer a charging station for our guests. We offer a Tesla Charging Station and a Clipper Creek Universal Charging Station for smart cars. Guests are free to use this as an additional amenity while staying with us.
Bay View Inn is proud to be a completely smoke-free property.

We are located two miles north of downtown Petoskey. Bay View Inn is located in a National Historic Landmark, the Bay View Association. The Bay View Association is an independent Chautauqua that offers over 440 Victorian-era cottages and numerous community buildings, with the entire community listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1972.
Yes. The Bay View Inn is a member of the Association, and guests may enjoy a variety of association amenities and activities. Guests can explore the Victorian campus and 160 acres of walking trails.
Guests have access to the Bay View association beach located on Little Traverse Bay. Kayaks, paddle boards, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and sunfish sailboats are also available for rent.
Guests are invited to purchase tickets to enjoy the entertainment offered at the Bay View box office. Including summer zephyr concerts, nationally recognized speakers, music events, and more.
